78 Dental are pleased to support the Child Dental Benefits Schedule introduced by the Australian Government.
The scheme commenced on 1st January 2015 and provides a range of dental services to Australian children between the ages of 2-17. The benefit will be capped at $1,000 per child where deemed eligible in 2015.
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is means tested. A child is eligible if they are aged between 2-17 for at least 1 day of the calendar year; they now have to be eligible for Medicare at the time of treatment and be part of a family receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, or one of the following Australian Government payments:
- Youth Allowance
- Disability Support Pension
- Parenting Payment
- Special Benefit
- Carer Payment
- Double Orphan Pension
- Veteran's Children Education Scheme, if the child is 16 or over
- Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act Education and Training Scheme, if the child is 16 or over
You can confirm your child's eligibility by accessing your Medicare online account at my.gov.au. Eligible families should receive a letter to confirm eligibility which is determined each calendar year.
NB: a child who was eligible in 2015 is not automatically eligible in 2016 even if you have not utilized the full $1,000.00 they must be deemed eligible in 2016.
